Fox and Panda Comics Grading / Comic Description Information

At Fox and Panda Comics, we thoroughly inspect all our comics and products before listing them for sale. This does not apply to Pre-Order Statues—please refer to our Pre-Order terms and conditions for FAQs related to Pre-Orders.

Inspection Process

Every comic undergoes a comprehensive review, which includes checks for:

• Front cover condition

• Rear cover condition

• Inside pages and edges

• Spine and staples

• Comic and page color

• Stains and markings

• Creases and water or liquid damage

 

Note: Comics that do not meet our condition standards due to significant damage will not be listed unless they are key issues or belong to the Golden or Silver Age.

Grading Scales

We use two main grading scales to classify our comics:

Basic Letter Grade Scale (from highest to lowest)

NM: Near Mint
VF: Very Fine
FN: Fine
VG: Very Good
GD: Good
FR: Fair
PR: Poor

Ten-Point Grading Scale (from 10.0 to 0.5)

10.0 GM: Gem Mint
9.9 M: Mint
9.8 NM/M: Near Mint/Mint
9.6 NM+: Near Mint+
9.4 NM: Near Mint
9.2 NM-: Near Mint-
9.0 VF/NM: Very Fine/Near Mint
8.5 VF+: Very Fine+
8.0 VF: Very Fine
7.5 VF-: Very Fine-
7.0 FN/VF: Fine/Very Fine
6.5 FN+: Fine+
6.0 FN: Fine
5.5 FN-: Fine-
5.0 VG/FN: Very Good/Fine
4.5 VG+: Very Good+
4.0 VG: Very Good
3.5 VG-: Very Good-
3.0 GD/VG: Good/Very Good
2.5 GD+: Good+
2.0 GD: Good
1.8 GD-: Good-
1.5 FR/GD: Fair/Good
1.0 FR: Fair

Online Store Comic Description Tiers
We categorize comics into three tiers for ease of description:

High Grade Rank (Green)
Mid Grade Rank (Yellow)
Low Grade Rank (Red)

 

High Grade Rank (Green)
High-grade books are those with minimal flaws. They are well-presented and typically have pages that are mostly white or off-white. Minor imperfections such as a slight crease, a minor spine tick, or a small corner mark are acceptable if the overall condition is outstanding.

Note: We do not take responsibility for discrepancies with third-party grading company assessments. Grading can be subjective, and some companies may rate lower for minimal flaws. Therefore, we do not list any comic as 10.0 to 9.8 unless officially graded.

Always review the provided photos and request additional images if needed.

Mid Grade Rank (Yellow)
Mid-grade books are in good condition but do not meet the criteria for high-grade classification. Typical flaws may include minor creases, light corner damage, or slight edge wear. There might be slight pen or marker marks on the cover, and pages are usually off-white, though sometimes white. Some slight yellowing or age stains may also be present. These books could potentially be improved with professional pressing and cleaning.

Low Grade Rank (Red)
Low-grade books are in fair to poor condition, often with significant damage. Typical issues include large tears, heavy creases, missing staples, detached covers, or noticeable marks. These books may also have heavy edge wear and pen or marker markings.

Low-grade comics are priced lower and are sold "as-is." By purchasing, you acknowledge the existing condition as described and shown in the images.
